In 2005 we made the decision to move to France and bought La Coumette our 200 year old farm house in the beautiful Pyrenees. We embarked on a journey that’s taken us in a wonderful direction in life and seen us create a beautiful home here. Blessed with 2 children who are completely bilingual. Jasmine and Thom share our passion for adventure and the outdoors and as a family we travel as much as we can. Living here in rural France, can be calm and quiet but other times vibrant, busy and full of life. Its what we love about it.
We enjoy days out on the rivers and in the majestic mountains. Visiting local attractions and getting involved in the community. We love popping to the market in Aspet, its a real gem. We buy our weekly supplies from the locals we know. Fresh local produce is the best. Stopping for just a minute at the busy Cafe. At least once a week in the summer we light the camp fire in the garden and enjoy a off grid evening. No screens, no phones, no lights even. Just the moon the stars and the crackling fire, where we cook dinner and the children play. This is the perfect evening for us.
In 2017 we finished the renovation on our barn. Gite Colombe des Bois is now open for visitors wanting to enjoy comfortable surroundings and a welcome basket of goodies. We are so happy to finally share this little piece of heaven. We hope visitors will come here and recharge their batteries or wear them out… Make some memories and leave with a longing to return soon.
We care about the environment, so we are mindful about buying local produce and its providence. We recycle and have very low waste levels. In the summer our kitchen garden provides us with all we need, and sees us through much of the winter too. Chickens roam the garden and provide us with an endless supply of eggs. Which is good because our chocolate brownie is becoming quite famous in these parts!
