There is nothing more traditional than a local French market, and we are lucky to have several morning markets near to Gite Colombe des Bois throughout the week:

You can find local produce including, honey, cheese, bread, meats, veggies, jams and also hand made goods. You will know the providence of the product and help to support local producers. You can also find our own Handmade Soaps at the local Aspet Market or in house in our soap Kitchen.

Have a seat at the cafe and watch the world go by for 10 minutes, and you will really experience the ambiance of the French markets in the Pyrenees.

Nearby Towns

Aspet, our nearest mountain village is 5 km away. With all the shops you should need on a daily basis, there is also a doctors, dentist, garage, post office, cafes, restaurants, bank, bakers, butchers, chemist, hardware store and more. Its market day on Wednesday and Saturday where you can find fresh local produce.

Saint Gaudens is 20km and about 25 minutes drive from us. You can probably find anything you can’t find at the market here. There is a supermarket, many sports shops, as well as all the other commercial stores. There are several restaurants and cafes in the centre of town.

Hippy Saint Girons is 25 km and about 30 minutes drive from here, passing the lovely St Lizier medieval town on the way. St Girons is another good town to get any more shopping you might need, and enjoy market day on a Saturday morning. Slight hippy vibe to it, lots of cafes to sit at and enjoy the lovely scenes of the river Salat.
