Every May in the Pyrenees the Pau Historic car racing weekends are held. The 1st weekend is the Formula 3 and the 2nd is the Historic weekend. Both offer some exciting racing, especially if it rains!
Its a really great event to go to, and also visit the historic town of Pau. Plenty to see and do when the drivers are taking a break. There is a festival atmosphere especially in the evening with music and street food. Some entertainments for the children too.
Get your walking shoes on though its quiet hilly and lots of steps, but once in the grounds you can get really close up to the cars and teams in the paddocks and track side too.
The noise is incredible so invest in some ear plugs or protectors. Always take the trusty umbrella, and book in advance for a discount on the price for the weekend, and a seated place in the viewing areas. Its worth the extra.
Mr Tyrrell says to go and watch wherever the crane is, because thats where the track will be most exciting!
We are avid fans and go every year it must be in the blood! #tyrrellsracing
